τέλειο: The Call to Be Made Whole
teleios (tel'-i-os): Perfect, complete, mature, full-grown
This week’s Greek word is teleios, found in Matthew 5:48 where Jesus says, “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” But teleios isn’t about flawlessness—it’s about being brought to completion, maturity, or wholeness. Jesus is inviting us to grow into maturity and live with wholehearted love, not to aim for an unreachable standard of perfection. We so often fall for the lie that God wants us to be more, do more, but He longs to make us complete with Himself- not that we try to be more in ourselves!
