ποικίλος: the riches of God's grace

poikilos (poy-kee'-los): Various, manifold, diverse

This week's Greek word is poikilos, which means "varied," "manifold," or "diverse." It shows up ten times across six different New Testament authors, and every time it highlights multiplicity—whether it's describing various sicknesses, passions, miracles, teachings, spiritual gifts, or trials. It stuck out to me this week in my Biblical studies in 1 Peter 4:10, where believers are called to serve one another with the "manifold grace of God".

In 1 Peter 4:10 God's grace is so "manifold" and "varied" that it propels us to action! I love that His kindness is so rich and life changing that it doesn't end with us, it is to work through us and change the way we live, impacting those around us too!

This week, remember: God's grace is as diverse as your needs and He meets you with exactly the right kind of help at exactly the right time. Where do you see God's "manifold" grace showing up in your life right now? How can that inform the way you live unto Him?

Scriptures where we find "poikilos":

Hebrews 2:4 — "signs, wonders and various miracles,"

James 1:2when you encounter various trials"

1 Peter 4:10 — "stewards of the manifold grace"
